3 Quick Exercises to Develop Your Intuition

3 Quick Exercises to Develop Your Intuition

You think you may be an intuitive. In fact, you’re almost sure of it. There are so many times when you had a feeling about something, and it turned out to be right! Now you want to actively work on developing and strengthening your intuition.

Except…you have no time.

You’re too busy to sit for an hour-long meditation and perhaps you’re not ready to commit to a formal psychic development class.

You’ve just got so many things to do at home, with your family, and work and although you desperately want to strengthen your intuition, you don’t really know how you would go about it given your hectic daily routine.

If that’s you then you are in the right place, my friend! Life is busy, I get it, and you want some quick and easy ways to practice using your intuition on a daily basis.

The truth is, we are living increasingly hectic lives and doing short intuitive development exercises every day is better than doing a long and intense one less frequently.

Why? Because intuition is like a muscle. You need to USE it to make it stronger and you can achieve results by doing a little bit of intuition building every single day in a way that easily fits into your busy schedule.

Think about it this way. Let’s say you’re trying to write a book. You find the idea of hammering out the entire book spending 8 hours a day on it for two weeks to be extremely overwhelming and unrealistic for you. So overwhelming that you may give up on the second day.

Or, you could write 500 words a day and take 3-4 months to finish it but still get it done. The second method ends up being more successful.

Why? Because you made it DOABLE!

Similarly, I want to give you doable ways to enhance your intuition and I’m going to outline for you 3 exercises you can use to do just that in just a few minutes daily.

Intuition is like a muscle. You need to USE it to make it stronger and you can achieve results by doing a little bit of intuition building every single day in a way that easily fits into your busy schedule.

1. Traffic Light Exercise

The first exercise is called the traffic light exercise. It’s a very simple and easy one you can do at any time and place.

  • Think of a closed question (yes or no) you would like the answer to.

  • Picture a traffic light in your mind’s eye.

  • The traffic light lights up. What colour is it? Is it red, yellow, or green?

  • Red means no, yellow means maybe, and green means yes.

The question that you use for this exercise can be about anything, big or small. You should preferably ask about something in the immediate future or something you can check the accuracy of immediately so you can verify your answer.

This exercise can easily be done every day for the most mundane of questions. Make sure that you’re feeling calm and that your mind is relatively tranquil when you do this so that you can receive more accurate answers and experience less interference.

Start out with easy ones you can verify, as I said above. You may be wrong at first but don’t sweat it and keep practising.

2. This or That Exercise

The second exercise you can do is called the this or that exercise. I love this one and use it very often!

The idea is that you use this exercise to help you decide between two or more options of something. That something could be anything!

Which dietary supplement should I take? Which crystal should I buy? Which out of these three oracle cards do I feel attracted to? Anything that involves choosing between things.

What you’re going to do is first make sure you’re feeling calm and relaxed, as I said above. Set the intention to be open to Spirit. Then you’re gonna follow these steps:

  • Spend some time with each option. If they’re physical objects, hold each one in your hand. If they’re online items, spend time looking at each web page.

  • As you do so, be aware of any thoughts you have, images that come into your mind, any bodily sensations, feelings, or a general sense of rightness or knowing. Take your time with each one!

  • Which one did you feel most attracted to or resonated with the most? That’s the option you should go with!

  • How did you know? Was it a bodily sensation (like tingles), an emotion, a though, an image (like seeing the number 1 in your mind for option 1), or a sense of rightness/knowing?

One thing I’ve discovered doing this is that though I am mostly clairvoyant (receive images), and clairaudient (receive words/phrases), I DO have a sense of clairsentience as well because when I do this exercise, I don’t always know because of an image or thought.

I sometimes get tingles when I focus on the right option. A tingly feeling in my solar plexus area. Like a positive energy that spreads outwards from that area. This is clairsentience and I know for a fact that many of you reading this are clairsentient.

So when you do this, don’t necessarily fixate on just the one method of receiving information from Spirit. Even if you are mostly clairsentient you may also sometimes receive input from the other clairs (more on the four clairs here).

Make sure that you’re feeling calm and that your mind is relatively tranquil when you do intuitive development exercises so that you can receive more accurate answers and experience less interference.

3. Automatic Writing Exercise

That I love automatic writing is no secret. It’s actually the thing that got me started with channelling and it’s basically my go-to method for conversing with my spirit guides and gaining clarity on a great number of things.

What is automatic writing? It’s an activity that works on your claircognizance (sense of knowing) and also your clairaudience (if you ‘hear’ words and phrases in your mind).

As before, make sure you have a calm and silent mind before doing this! A tranquil mind is a receptive mind!

Anyway, it works like this:

  • Grab a pen and paper, notebook, or simply open up a Microsoft Word, Notepad, or Pages (if on a Mac) on your computer.

  • Now there are two ways you can go about it:

    • Write the first thing that enters your mind, without censoring yourself, stream of consciousness style.

    • Ask a question first and then follow the above step.

And that’s it! You may feel sceptical about this, and at first what you write may be gibberish or mean nothing but keep practising and you will find that you will soon be channelling messages for yourself. The things you write will often mean something to you, help you, or guide you in some way.

If you’re a fan of journaling this is perfect for you! You can make this a regular activity that you do in your journal. You only need spend 5 minutes doing this activity so it’s very doable in your free time!

Make Time for Spirit Every Day

The most important tip I have to give you is this: practice every day. Make time for Spirit. Set a daily appointment with Spirit and show up.

Just as you show up to work or school, show up for Spirit.

Set aside just 5 minutes daily to practice one of the above activities, to work with your tarot or oracle deck, or simply to sit quietly and contemplate or meditate with the intention of being open to receiving guidance from your higher self and spirit guides.

Remember that intuition is like a muscle. You need to use it to make it stronger! You start out with weak intuition and you practice enough to have strong intuition, then you keep practising enough to receive clear psychic information (super strong intuition!).

You can do it, guys! All you need to do is make commitment to show up every day and practice in small ways that you feel you can do. A small daily time commitment is better than a big infrequent one!
